Tucked away in the historic centre is a treasury of secret, traditional skills and knowledge. The magic space of the Arts and Crafts Centre Zemlja (Earth), with its authentic quality and originality, attracts all those seeking refuge for their creativeness and imagination.
Established in April 2007, the centre fosters the multiethnic tradition and cultural heritage of Serbia as a source of inexhaustible wealth, by manufacturing and selling traditional handcrafts and organizing numerous workshops. The enthusiasts from Zemlja invite you to join the workshops and experience the pleasure of cultivating your mental and manual abilities by mastering crafts and applied arts such as weaving, knitting, sewing, embroidery, woodwork, interior design and fashion accessories, pottery, fabric painting and flower arranging.
In collaboration with the city's Ethnographic Museum, the weaving and sewing and tailoring workshops are based on expert knowledge, so the works of our course takers fully correspond to the authentic look of clothing items from past times. A great interest the young generation has taken in tailoring and sewing, weaving and flower arranging courses encourages us to create various projects, many of which are under the wing of the Ethnonetwork.
In cooperation with the National Employment Service, within the professional training and retraining programmes, our weaving and sewing and tailoring courses enable a group of unemployed women from Pećinci and Inđija to acquire new skills and create job opportunities for themselves, developing their creative potential in the process.
WEAVING AND SEWING AND TAILORING WORKSHOPS
Treat yourself to mastering new skills! After only a few visits to our crash course in sewing and tailoring you will leave with a most elegant prom dress or a most exquisite wedding-gown or pair of trousers, cut out to fit you perfectly. To those interested in weaving courses, we offer a 60 – 80 hour programme, with the possibility of buying a loom, since making looms is one of the skills Zemlja takes pride in.
FLOWER ARRANGING WORKSHOPS
Along with fantastic creations, original designs and pleasant company, our floral decorations workshop offers wedding reception services, including floral arrangements for brides and grooms and wedding halls, traditional towels for bride's attendants, tablecloths, ribbons, etc. The workshop also offers floral decorations and other services for christenings.
Let the enterior decoration at you wedding or christening be original and unique.
CERAMICS WORKSHOPS
Pottery classes will enable you to create various objects by turning the wheel of the past, giving them a specific, modern mark. In our ceramics workshop, you can make your own vase, bracelet, necklace or pendant, which will represent a unique combination of a Novi Sad lady from the beginning of the 20th century and a modern, independent girl of the future.
Play, learn and use your imagination in discovering new worlds, where the creation of magic is the secret skill of the chosen.
